Random Thoughts to the Blue Sky – part 2

Rome: Day 2 Morning – Went sight-seeing straight after reaching here. I would sum up the first evening as – missing the last hop-on/off bus, wandering quite lost in the middle of the city as people hardly speak English, literally chasing after buses and then passing out the moment I hit the bed at midnight!

It seemed there was a knock on the door this morning that woke me up, only the knocking must have been either in my dreams or next door ‘coz there was nobody at the door.

Tried to set-up Wi-Fi on BB but in vain…Umpteen failed attempts to connect make me feel like a loser.

When one (Wi-Fi) door closes, another opens (on iPad) . Or maybe FB was saying- why hath thou abandoneth me for so long!

Rome: Day 2 evening -This city of seven hills seems to have left me bereft of luck!

The first news of the morning was the concierge telling us – there is a strike and no public transit will be available today. The rental SUV doesn’t sound like a really great idea to manoeuvre around the unknown place with small alleys, cobbled streets, unknown parking spots and worst of all, the missing connectivity between the spoken words!

Either we rent cabs or walk for hours and hours … and we did both (despite getting on once into a working hop-on bus late in the afternoon)! The dwindling cash (hardly any Euro left) and my aching feet make me feel that Lady Luck definitely did not want to smile at me today!

Couldn’t buy a cute replica of the Colosseum due to it being on the wrong side of heavy- we must be already above our baggage allowance as is, by now!

Non-functional Wi-Fi on BB equates to no quick photos from BBM being transferred. Feels like things are amiss there as well.

The day had its fun-filled moments too. Apparently I agreed to marry the very British yet Roman tour guide – I happened to be standing just next to him when he started the tour of the Roman Forum, he shook my hand and wouldn’t let go the entire time, until he was done explaining how much of ancient Roman wedding customs have been carried over to the modern world, much to the amusement and laughter of the whole group. LOL!

According to ancient Roman customs, consent to the marriage had to be shown publicly to make the union official. One way to show consent was for the future bride and groom to appear in public holding hands!

We decided to wrap up the day early and rest a while until meal time. Awesome – just getting down-time, a vacation out of the vacation. Now I wait for dinner…

Monaco Day 1: Monte Carlo is like a dream-come-true city. Amazing views: mountain meets sea meet luxury, including handsome, even shirtless guys and beautiful, fashionable ladies …Thoroughly enjoyed the change of guard at the palace at noon and the Prince’s car collection, and the Oceanographic Museum – I could spend the whole day, even weeks there inside the museum…I guess I want to retire at this place…

The only regret ? Didn’t get to dip into the Mediterranean Sea when we were travelling and staying just next to it all along…
